My Assurance of Heaven

We have just completed our third RWG on the topic of sharing Jesus in a hostile world, and it was truly an amazing evening. If you had to miss it, the event is now on our website. I brought in my friend Hedieh Mirahmadi to share her testimony regarding her conversion from being a Muslim to being a Christian. One of the points she shared was that Muslims have no assurance of going to heaven. They will not find out if they go to heaven until they die. I cannot even imagine how you could operate with any peace in your heart living under this threat of not knowing if you will end up in heaven or hell. You would never know if you had studied enough, prayed enough, served enough, until you met the Creator. Having to live under the cloud of possible condemnation would be sufficient to cause a believer in Islam to NEVER be at peace. What a contrast and a gift from God we receive as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. We do not have to wonder where we are going once we have put our faith in Jesus. Remember the encounter between Jesus and the thief on the cross? When the thief asked Jesus to remember him when He came into His kingdom, Jesus responded in Luke 23:43 with, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.” The Scriptures are full of the assurance of our destination in Christ. At the raising of Lazarus in John 11:25-26, Jesus stated, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” I most whole heartedly believe this and hope that you do as well. Our enemy loves to lead us into casting doubt on what we already know, to question ourselves, or God’s Word. Do not listen to him! We have the greatest assurance of our destination in the testimony of our Savior Himself. In Jesus Christ we have peace and hope for now and the future. Our faith gives us everything for life and godliness. Let us never take these facts for granted. What did Jesus tell His disciples that extends to us? He said, “These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world,” John 16:13. Live in peace my dear ones knowing that when you die, you just change addresses. Your eternal life began when you placed your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. You will simply change addresses from the world to heaven. If you have ever moved, you know how difficult moving can be. This move will be the best and easiest one you have ever made because Jesus has gone before us and made the way. I urge you to live in the peace that Muslims cannot understand. How good is our Lord to give us assurances of our final home!
