A new school year has begun. A new season is upon us. As the Fall approaches, it brings with it new events, adventures, and a different season of life. Do we use new seasons to reevaluate our lives? Maybe we should. My first grandbaby has started kindergarten which has me thinking of what it means to begin a new season – even if I am not ready, or do not want a new season. Are some of you thinking like I am? My grandson is loving his new season of life. Kindergarten is his new “happy place,” although it has been startling for me to see how fast this child is growing up. I need life to slow down, but we all know that is not going to happen.
I am personally excited about the new season that has arrived with all of my Bible teaching starting again, another Redeemed Women Gathering is soon, and a season of getting back on track is at hand.
I have not been living a season of complete productivity since the virus, or at least that is what it feels like. I do not know if you are like me, but the season of Covid-19 got me way off the track that I had been on. Why did I allow this to happen? I had a good schedule of working out, eating well, organizing household responsibilities, spending time with the Lord, and all that comes with the work I do. I had time to spend with all the people I love. You see, I have always been a well-organized person who enjoyed the challenge of the many facets of life. The Lord had allowed much to be on my plate. I think that so much of the organizational skills that I had developed came from the discipline that I experienced growing up as a ballet dancer. It has really not been that difficult for me to balance all the things that I have been called to do. Then the pandemic hit, and it hit hard. I cannot say that I lived in fear during this time, for I know that God is in control and has me and all those I love in the palm of His hand, but it was easy not to do the things that I knew I should. Yes, I had Covid-19 and experienced great fatigue after. I got on a path that has not been productive for my body or my soul. Have you experienced any of this since the virus? A season of great change?
Well, my dear friends, it is a new season. It is a new time to reevaluate what we are called to do and do it. My longtime friend Sol is a Ballet Mistress extraordinaire. When she teaches and corrects a dancer, she always says, “Now you know it, now you do it!” If you have walked with Christ any length of time, you know the things that the Lord has taught you to do for your good. It may be different for each of us, but the bottom line is that we must live lives that honor the Lord. Part of our service and devotion to Him includes doing what He has deemed as good for us. Now you know it, now you do it. If you do not have the motivation to do it, ask the Holy Spirit to prompt you, maybe even hound you to be on the good path. He listens, and He will help.
Remember Ecclesiates 3:1-8? It reads, “There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every purpose under heaven – A time to give birth and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted. A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance. A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing. A time to search and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; A time to be silent and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace.”
What season are you in? Seasons change our lives because God changes our seasons. Be at peace with the changes and do what pleases Him. You are not alone as He is with you always. We should embrace what is good for us. If we have gotten off track for any reason, it is never too late to get back on the narrow path that leads to a better life in Christ. Let the beginning of this Fall season remind you that there is a new season – embrace it!
